Fall is one of my favorite times of year—not just because of the cooler weather and cozy vibes, but because it’s the perfect season to change up your look. Here at my salon in West Columbia, I’ve been seeing a lot of clients from both West Columbia and Lexington coming in ready for something new and fresh as the seasons change.
If you’ve been thinking about switching things up, here are some of the seasonal hair trends I’ve been loving this fall. Whether you want to go bold with striking hair colors or keep it subtle and soft, there’s something here for everyone.
1. Warm, Rich Hair Colors
Fall is all about warmth, and this year’s color trends are no exception. Think caramel highlights, deep chocolate browns, and soft honey blondes. If you’re ready to lean into those cozy autumn tones, I’ve got a few favorites I’ve been recommending:
Cinnamon Copper: A blend of copper and cinnamon tones that adds warmth and dimension.
Golden Blonde Balayage: Perfect for those who want brightness without the harsh lines of traditional highlights.
Deep Espresso Brown: A rich, dark brown that adds shine and drama without being too bold.
These shades not only look gorgeous in the fall light, but they’re also easier to maintain between appointments. If you need help deciding which color will work best for your skin tone, just ask me during your next visit—I’m always happy to give you my hair stylist advice.
2. The Return of Layers
Yes, layers are back! After a long stretch of one-length haircuts and blunt ends, more and more of my guests are asking for soft, face-framing layers and textured cuts. Layers are a great way to add movement and volume without sacrificing length.
This season, we’re seeing a lot of requests for:
Curtain Bangs: Soft, wispy bangs that frame the face beautifully.
Shag-Inspired Cuts: A modern twist on the ‘70s shag, with lots of texture and layers.
Long Layers with Volume: Great for guests who want their hair to feel lighter and more bouncy.
If you’re ready to freshen up your cut but don’t want to go short, adding layers is the perfect solution.
3. Low-Maintenance Styles
With the holidays approaching, everyone’s schedule gets busier. That’s why low-maintenance styles are trending right now. Many of my clients want looks that grow out gracefully and don’t require constant touch-ups.
Balayage and root smudge techniques are a great way to soften the grow-out process, making your color last longer without looking overgrown. Paired with a good haircut and proper at-home care, you’ll spend less time in the salon and more time enjoying the season.
4. Healthy Hair Focus
Another big trend this fall? Hair repair and health. More than ever, my guests are asking how to keep their hair healthy, hydrated, and strong through the cooler months.
Dry air, indoor heating, and the stress of the holiday season can all take a toll on your hair. That’s why I’ve been encouraging everyone to invest in good products and treatments to keep their hair looking its best. A few things I always recommend:
Deep Conditioning Treatments (I offer one right here in the salon)
Using a leave-in conditioner or hair oil
Trimming split ends regularly
Limiting heat styling when possible
Taking care of your hair now will make all the difference when spring rolls around.
5. Special Occasion Styles
And of course, fall is the start of event season. Whether you’re attending a wedding, holiday party, or special event, there’s always room for wedding hair, bridal hair, or party hair styles.
I’ve been busy creating soft, romantic updos, polished waves, and half-up styles for my clients who want to look their best for big events. If you have something coming up, let’s chat about how we can make your hair the star of the show.
Final Thoughts
If you’re ready to try one of these fall trends or need help figuring out what’s best for your hair, I’d love to see you in my chair. Whether you’re in West Columbia or coming over from Lexington, I’m here to help you look and feel your best this season.
Fall is the perfect time for a fresh start—and sometimes, all it takes is a new cut, color, or style to make you feel like the best version of yourself.
